An island school in Bantayan, Cebu—one of eight schools in Cebu Province chosen for the pilot implementation of limited face-to-face learning—received equipment and materials from Vivant Foundation Inc. (VFI).

Vivant Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Cebuano firm Vivant Corporation, donated 150 gallons of alcohol, digital thermometers with stand, washable face masks, face shields and refillable spray bottles for the 263 students and 13 teachers of Luyongbaybay Elementary School in Bantayan, Cebu.
The donation is VFI’s contribution to the Department of Education’s (DepEd) efforts to enable public schools around the country to hold in-person classes again.
Wennie Pastor, Luyongbaybay Elementary School principal, said that the teachers and officials of the school are confident they would be able to meet the challenges of implementing face-to-face learning with the support of Vivant Foundation and the local government of Bantayan. “It’s not an easy task but we are ready. Vivant’s donation will help us deliver effective and quality education to our learners and will ignite our passion to provide our students the kind of learning that they ought to have,” Pastorsaid.
She said that aside from having zero COVID-19 cases, Luyongbaybay Elementary School passed the inspection conducted by DepEd Cebu Province in relation to the implementation of the face-to-face learning scheme. The barangay and the Municipal Government also passed resolutions, expressing support to the school as it implements limited face-to-face classes.
“In the past two years, Vivant has been working with schools to ensure the continued education of our communities' learners through modular learning. While we respect the hard work that the teachers have put into a method of teaching few of them have had experience with, I'm sure most of them will agree with me that nothing can truly substitute face-to-face interactions between teachers and students, as well as the benefits of students learning with each other in groups and learning not just the subject matter, but soft skills such as teamwork,”said Vivant Foundation Executive Director Shem Jose W. Garcia. “We see our investment in Luyongbaybay Elementary School as one of the pilot schools not just as an investment in our community in Bantayan, but as an act of hope for all learners nationwide,” he added.
Aside from equipment and materials needed for the implementation of face-to-face learning, Vivant Foundation also donated to Luyang Baybay Elementary School a Riso machine, bond paper and other materials to support the continued production of teaching modules.
“With partners like Vivant, no tide or storm can prevent us from doing our job of delivering quality education to our learners,” said Assistant School Division Superintendent Dr. AniletoBungcawil of Cebu Division.
