The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that as of 12:40 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, typhoon Odette (international name: “Rai”) exited the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
Based on the state weather bureau’s 36-hour forecast issued at 11 a.m., the weather disturbance is expected to continue moving northwestward of Pag-asa Island, Kalayaan in Palawan.
Throughout the forecast period, the typhoon is seen to remain in the typhoon category with maximum sustained winds of up to 120 kilometers per hour (kph).
8 a.m., Dec. 18
The center of the eye of typhoon Odette was located 380 kilometers (km) west northwest of Puerto Princesa, Palawan or 115 km east of Pag-asa Island, Kalayaan, Palawan.
It has maximum sustained winds of kilometers per hour (kph), gustiness of up to 190 kph, and it is moving westward at 25 kph.
Tropical cyclone wind signal remained hoisted iin Kalayaan Islands. PAGASA said that destructive typhoon-force winds may prevail in the area. Meanwhile, the western portion of Palawan remains under Signal No. 1, where strong winds may be experienced.
Typhoon Odette is expected to exit PAR on Saturday, Dec. 18.

Tropical cyclone wind signal number 3 remains hoisted over Kalayaan Islands as typhoon Odette (international name: Rai) moved closer to the islands early Saturday morning, Dec. 18, the PAGASA said.
As of 4 a.m., the center of the eye of Odette was estimated at 240 kilometers west-northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. It still has maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.
"While over the West Philippine Sea, the typhoon is forecast to move west-northwestward and may exit the Philippine area of responsibility this morning or afternoon. Odette is forecast to pass in the vicinity of Kalayaan Islands today," PAGASA said.

Typhoon Odette (international name: Rai) decelerated while moving towards Kalayaan Islands early Saturday morning, Dec. 18, the PAGASA said.
As of 1 a.m., the center of the eye of typhoon "Odette" was located 155 kilometers (km) northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
The typhoon moved west-northwest and decelerated from 20 kilometers per hour (kph) to 15 kph.
However, it maintained its strength with maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

Typhoon "Odette" (international name: "Rai") has maintained its strength while moving towards the Kalayaan Islands on Friday evening, Dec. 17, the PAGASA said in its 11 p.m. bulletin.
As of 10 p.m., the center of the eye of typhoon Odette was located 105 kilometers northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
It was moving westward at 20 kilometers per hour (kph) while packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.
"While over the West Philippine Sea, the typhoon is forecast to move west-northwestward and may exit the Philippine area of responsibility tomorrow morning or early afternoon (Dec. 18). Odette is forecast to pass in the vicinity of Kalayaan Islands tomorrow," PAGASA said.

As of 7 p.m., the center of the eye of Odette was over the coastal waters of San Vicente, Palawan, or 85 kilometers north of Puerto Princesa City.

Typhoon "Odette" (international name: "Rai") continued to traverse the Sulu Sea and moved closer to Palawan province on Friday morning, Dec. 17, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 11 a.m. bulletin.
As of 10 a.m., the center of the eye of Odette was located 90 kilometers south-southwest of Cuyo, Palawan.
The typhoon continued to move westward at 25 kilometers per hour (kph) while packing maximum sustained winds of 155 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 215 kph.
"Moving generally westward, the typhoon is forecast to make landfall in the vicinity of northern or central portion of Palawan this afternoon (Dec. 17), re-emerge over the West Philippine Sea tonight (Dec. 17), and pass in the vicinity of Kalayaan Islands tomorrow (Dec. 18)," PAGASA said.
Odette's potential landfall over Palawan will be its ninth landfall. Typhoon "Odette" (international name: "Rai") is moving westward and is likely emerge over the Panay Gulf and the Sulu Sea on Friday morning, Dec. 17, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
PAGASA said in its 2 a.m. weather bulletin that the typhoon will cross the Sulu Sea and pass near or in the vicinity of either Cuyo or Cagayancillo archipelago Friday noon (Dec. 17) before making landfall in the vicinity of northern or central portion of Palawan.
Odette maintained its strength packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 240 kph. The typhoon was last seen in the vicinity of Ilog, Negros Occidental.

Typhoon 'Odette' has further weakened as it made landfall in Carcar, Cebu on Thursday night, Dec. 16, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
As of 10 p.m. on Thursday (Dec. 16) the center of Odette was last observed within the vicinity of Carcar, Cebu. Despite weakening, it still packs maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 240 kph. It is moving westward at 35 kph.
Based on the forecast track of PAGASA, Odette will continue moving westward and the center of its eye is expected to traverse the rugged terrain of Negros Island and pass over the Panay Gulf close to Guimaras and the southwestern coast of Panay Island before emerging over the Sulu Sea on Friday morning, Dec. 17.
After passing near or in the vicinity of either Cuyo or Cagayancillo archipelago, Odette is likely to cross the northern or central portion of Palawan on Friday afternoon (Dec. 17) before emerging over the West Philippine Sea. The typhoon will then pass the vicinity of Kalayaan Islands on Saturday, 18.

The center of the eye of typhoon Odette (international name: "Rai") was located over the coastal waters of the municipality of President Carlos P. Garcia in Bohol.
After making landfall six times, Odette slightly weakened and now has maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 255 kph.

As of 4:50 p.m., the center of the eye of typhoon Odette was located in the vicinity of Liloan, Southern Leyte. It has maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometers per hour (kph), gustiness of up to 270 kph, and is moving westward at 30 kph.
Its first three landfalls were recorded in Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte at 1:30 p.m., Liloan, Southern Leyte at 3:40 p.m., and Liloan Panaon Island in Southern Leyte at 4:50 p.m.
In its latest bulletin, PAGASA said that its winds may reach the typhoon strength of up to 195 kilometers per hour (kph) in areas where tropical cyclone wind signal number 4 is hoisted.

Typhoon "Odette" (international name: "Rai") has made its first landfall over Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte at around 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 16, PAGASA said.
PAGASA said that after its landfall over Surigao del Norte, Odette will likely continue to move west-northwestward or westward and make another landfall over Dinagat Islands Thursday afternoon.
It is expected to move westward and cross or make a few more landfalls over several Central and Western Visayas provinces before emerging over the Sulu Sea on Friday morning, Dec. 17.

Strong winds prevailing or expected within 24 hours.
Signal No. 1 was hoisted over Sorsogon, Masbate including Ticao Island, and the southern portion of Romblon (Cajidiocan, San Fernando, Magdiwang, Alcantara, Looc, Santa Fe, San Jose), Eastern Samar, Northern Samar, Samar, Leyte, Biliran, Southern Leyte, Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, Siquijor, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, Antique, and Guimaras, Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, the rest of Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, the northern portion of Bukidnon (Malitbog, Impasug-Ong, Sumilao, Manolo Fortich, Libona, Baungon), Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, the northern portion of Misamis Occidental (Plaridel, Baliangao, Sapang Dalaga), and the northern portion of Zamboanga del Norte (Dapitan City, Sibutad, Rizal, La Libertad, Dipolog City).
According to PAGASA, Odette intensified into a typhoon at 8:00 a.m. The state weather bureau said that Odette is expected to intensify further on Wednesday through the next day as it crosses the Philippine Sea and may reach a peak intensity of 155 km/h prior to making landfall by afternoon the following day.
PAGASA last observed the center of Odette 590 km East of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur packing maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 150 km/h and is moving westward at 20 km/h.

PAGASA said severe tropical storm "Odette" (international name: "Rai") slightly intensified and is close to becoming a typhoon. It is now packing maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph.
As of 4 a.m., Odette was located at 735 kilometers (km) east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, and was moving west-northwestward at 25 kph.
PAGASA said Odette may reach the typhoon category within 12 hours and peak intensity of 155 kph before landfall over Caraga or Eastern Visayas by Thursday afternoon or evening, Dec. 16.

It slightly intensified with maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 125 kph and was moving west-northwestward at 15 kph.
PAGASA said Odette is still highly likely to make landfall over Caraga or Eastern Visayas by Thursday afternoon or evening, Dec. 16.
