ABUYOG, LEYTE – Landslides, roofless homes, inaccessible roads, toppled down trees and electric posts were left after Typhoon 'Odette' ravaged Eastern Visayas Thursday, December 16.
Pew Ablanque, 24, from Brgy. Luyonsawang here could not help himself but pick up the pieces of what used to be their barbecue stall near the beach.

Their grill was still there, however, only some tarpaulins and wood were left after the storm surge washed them out.
Over a foot of sand also covered nine more stalls in their area. Pew said about three feet of water was brought by the storm surge, which also flooded the town proper.
"We were able to bring our tables home but the rest of our stuff were left here. However, we were also flooded at home," he shared.
He said they will wait for advice from the local government here as to when they will rebuild their barbecue stall, which is their main source of income.
Just like the stalls, other houses, even their justice hall were flooded due to the surge of water coming from the sea.
A storm surge was also reported in Dulag, Leyte, Can-avid, Eastern Samar.
Electricity and communication lines are still down in some parts of Leyte and in Southern Leyte where 'Odette' made two landfalls Thursday afternoon.
Authorities have yet to issue the extent of damage and the casualties because of communication problems.
Mahaplag-Sogod Road remains inaccessible to vehicles due to the clearing of roads from trees, electric posts, and debris.
Meanwhile, a 62-year-old man from Brgy. Roño, Marabut, Samar died in an evacuation center at the height of the typhoon.
Reynaldo Cinco was found lifeless on a folding bed by the other evacuees.
They brought him to the Rural Health Unit for post mortem examination.
