The Philippines has already administered over 100 million doses of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccines since it began its vaccination program against the said illness last March.
Based on the National Vaccination Dashboard, 100,019,138 vaccine doses were already given.
“The Philippines has reached the 100 million mark!,” the DOH said in an advisory.
“This is the total number of jabs administered since the country started its vaccination campaign in March 2021,” it added.
Data showed that 55,975,001 people received their first jabs so far, 43,029,348 Filipinos were already fully vaccinated, while 1,014,789 individuals got their booster shots.
Earlier this month, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III expressed hope that the government will reach its target of fully vaccinating 54 million Filipinos by the end of this year.
Second national vaccination drive
Meanwhile, DOH Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said that a total of 1.7 million vaccine doses were administered during the conduct of the second national vaccination campaign as of Dec. 16.
Cabotaje encouraged eligible Filipinos to take part in this campaign to protect themselves against COVID-19.
“We encourage the public, especially the elderly and the immunocompromised to get their COVID-19 vaccine primary series as soon as possible and booster once eligible,” she said.
“Let’s give the free gift of safer holidays, safer resumption of classes and safer work to every Filipino family. Get vaccinated during the National Vaccination Day—Dec. 15 to 17 and Dec. 20 to 22 with whole families, especially our grandparents and those with comorbidities,” she added.
