KZ drops surprise version of 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas'

Asia’s Soul Supreme KZ Tandingan brings a little warmth to the cold weather of the holidays with her rendition of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” a special single released under Tarsier Records.

A surprise drop on Thursday (Dec 16), KZ’s interpretation of the classic Christmas tune stirs up some long-overdue holiday nostalgia, intensifying the yuletide atmosphere for those who have been feeling too weary to celebrate the season.

KZ performed the stripped-down version of the classic with solo accompaniment by the formidable Jem Florendo on keys. A spontaneous and magical moment that was luckily captured via several high quality microphones, the pair weaved a jaw-dropping rendition that will surely touch the hearts of listeners, if not leaving them speechless.

“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” was originally performed by famed American actress-singer Judy Garland for the 1944 musical film “Meet Me in St. Louis.” KZ adds her name to the list of legendary recording artists such as Michael Bublé, Josh Groban, John Legend, Christina Aguilera, and Sam Smith who have left their mark on the holiday standard by gifting the world with their own version of the song.

The track also marks KZ’s sophomore release under Tarsier Records following her first international single “11:59,” which led to her placement as spotlight artist of Spotify’s EQUAL Philippines playlist for November and landed her a billboard feature in New York Times Square.
