A drunk man who tried to evade pursuing members of the Manila Police District (MPD) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) was arrested for alleged possession of illegal drugs on Ayala Bridge in Manila on Friday, Dec. 17.

The MPD identified the suspect as OneMiguel T. Tan, 23, a resident of Tondo, Manila.

Tan was arrested for possession of illegal drugs, obstruction of traffic, resistance and disobedience to persons of authority, and for violating the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act.

The police recovered from him some 20 grams of suspected high-grade marijuana placed in one unsealed pack, one sealed pack, and one plastic container, one sachet of suspected powdered illegal drugs, and one sachet of ecstasy tablets.

The 30,000 worth of marijuana and P1,200 worth of ecstasy tablets will be submitted to the MPD Crime Laboratory Office for examination, police said.

Other confiscated items include two packs of rolling paper, a green lighter, a cell phone, a wallet, a blue Honda Jazz, and P80,500 cash.

In an interview with DZBB Super Radyo on Dec. 17, police investigator Mike Torres of the Manila Police District (MPD) said members of the MPD saw Tan asleep inside a blue Honda Jazz car that was stalled on Ayala Bridge.

Operatives from the MPD, traffic enforcers, and the PCG approached the vehicle and tried to wake up Tan.

Tan refused to be interrogated and drove off, but he was cornered by the MPD cops on Solano St.

He was caught in possession of a sachet of suspected illegal drugs when searched by K9 dogs of the MPD and PCG.

He was also found positive for alcohol consumption through the Alcoholic Breath Test and Anti-Breath Analyzer (ABA) conducted by officers of the Land and Transportation Office.

Tan is currently detained at the Ermita Police Station for investigation and documentation.

He is set to undergo a drug test and medical examination.
