
The Philippines confirmed 582 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Friday, Dec. 17.
The new infections brought the country's cumulative tally of cases to 2,837,464.
Of the total figure, 0.4 percent or 10,167 are still active cases, the Department of Health (DOH) said.
The DOH said that 4,015 of the active cases were experiencing mild symptoms, 3,415 percent were in moderate condition, 1,815 percent were severe, 539 percent were asymptomatic, and 383 were critical.
There were also 494 new recoveries, pushing the total number of people who have already recuperated from the illness to 2,776,727 or 97.9 percent of the case total.
Also, 74 new deaths were logged, bringing the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 50,570 or 1.78 percent of the case tally.
