The City of Antipolo was named as this year’s overall 2nd Most Competitive Component City in the Philippines during the recently concluded 9th Regional Competitiveness Summit Awarding Ceremony held on Tuesday, Dec. 14.
"Hindi man po natin nakuha ang Top 1 ngayong taon, maipagmamalaki pa rin po natin na tayo ang kauna-unahang component city sa buong bansa na nakapag-uwi ng tatlong beses ng pinaka prestigious award na ito sa nagdaang anim na taon (We may not be the Top 1 this year but we are still proud to be recognized as the very first component city in the country to take home this prestigious award three times in the past six years)," Executive Assistant to the Mayor Jun Ynares said on his Facebook post.
The local government unit (LGU) expressed its gratitude to all city employees and residents for their support, cooperation, and prayers which made it possible for the city to get the citation.
It also congratulated the Province of Rizal for being the overall Top 1 Most Competitive Province for six years in a row since 2016.
The Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) is an annual ranking of cities and municipalities in the country that builds, maps out, and tracks local competitiveness.
“The CMCI Program has also continued to be instrumental in providing data for investors and local chief executives from which they draw meaningful insights and strategic imperatives,” Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez said during the summit.
Lopez said 109 LGUs participated in this year’s CMCI from last year’s 36.
