TACLOBAN CITY - Three village officials were shot dead in Calbayog City, Thursday morning, December 16.
The fatalities were identified as Brgy. Kagawad Jonas Casaljay, 46, Chief Lupon Miguel Galvan, 54, and Chief Tanod Benedicto Dacara, 34, all residents of Brgy. Cagbanyacao, Calbayog City.
The suspects were identified as Edito Ampoan, Edmund Ampoan, Eddie Ampoan, a certain 'Ikpol', Jay-r Doinog, and a certain 'Tata', all residents of Brgy. Mahayag, Sta. Margarita, Samar.
Reports reaching the Police Regional Headquarters here disclosed at about 6:53 a.m., Calbayog City Police Station received the report from Brgy. Chair Conrado Calagos of Brgy. Cagbanyacao.
The responding police and army personnel saw the lifeless body of Galvan inside their house, while the bodies of Dacara and Jonas were found lying on the road in Purok 2, Brgy. Cagbanyacao.
Initial investigation disclosed that while the victims were inside their respective houses, a group of armed men wearing camouflage suddenly appeared and forcibly entered their homes.
The suspects asked the victims to surrender their firearms but they denied possessing them.
Thereafter, two of the victims were forcibly taken outside of their houses and were all were shot several times in the head resulting in their instantaneous death.
Galvan was shot inside his house with the use of an unknown caliber of firearm.
Afterwhich, the suspects fled on foot towards the mountainous area of the said barangay.
The cadavers of the victims were brought to a local funeral home while hot pursuit is being conducted by the authorities.
