The Makati Health Department (MHD) and the Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday sent volunteers to assist neighboring regions during the second leg of the National Vaccination Program called Bayanihan, Bakunahan 2.
In a Facebook post, the local government said that three nurses from the MHD and three from the DOH were sent to Dasmariñas, Cavite to take part in the vaccination drive.
According to the local government unit (LGU), the nurses were sent to areas with low vaccination rate and shortage in manpower.
The national government launched the second leg of the nationwide vaccination drive amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the threat of the Omicron and Delta variants.
The nationwide vaccination drive will last until Friday, Dec. 17, as the government targets to fully inoculate 54 million Filipinos by the end of the year, lower than the original plan of vaccinating 77 million people or 70 percent of the country's 110 million population.
