Bishop Pabillo calls on faithful to attend 9-day 'Simbang Gabi'
Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay, Palawan Bishop Broderick S. Pabillo has called on the faithful to attend the nine-day “Simbang Gabi” in preparation for the Birth of Christ.
In a pastoral letter, the chairman of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines -Stewardship Office urged the faithful “to reflect on the countless God-given blessings.”
“Our life, our time, our faith, our environment, our talents, and whatever little we have. These are all blessings, gifts from our Creator,” said Bishop Pabillo.
The Church leader encouraged the faithful to share more so he will be rewarded with more blessings. “It is one way of giving thanks to God for His many blessings. We must not be reluctant to share. Rather, we just have to rely on the goodness of our Lord. His blessings will pour on those who willingly share their time, talents, and gifts to others,” Pabillo said.
Aside from attending the “Simbang Gabi,” Bishop Pabillo encouraged the faithful to go to confession, to renew his faith, and to ask for forgiveness for sins committed.
"Let us welcome Christ with clean hearts. Let us receive Holy Communion with our hearts filled with hope for our safety amid this pandemic,” he said.
The nine-day “Simbang Gabi” held in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary will culminate on December 24 with the Misa de Gallo to herald the Nativity of Christ.
