Thank goodness, I didn’t encounter the used and abused post on social media “Wala muna magpapagupit sa parlor, mainit ulo ng mga bakla!" after our representative to the recent Miss Universe pageant, Beatrice Luigi Gomez, failed to bring home the crown. (please lang patahimikin na yang joke na yan!) Well, I could feel that Pinoys are happy with how Beatrice performed in the pageant that made her reached the Top 5. It’s the country’s highest place after Catriona Gray’s victory in 2018. (simula na ulit ito ng pambubulabog natin sa Universe!)

Congratulations to Beatrice and her team headed by Jonas Gaffud and Shamcey Supsup. (papa-train na talaga ako sa kanila!) I would just like to give special mention to the designer of Bea’s gold embroidered gown in the evening gown competition, Francis Libiran. Aside of course on Bea’s confidence on stage, the Libiran gown really helped her shine. (ang lakas maka dyosa!)

I met Francis several years ago through a common friend, his business partner Arsi Baltazar. Francis was busy with his ready-to-wear clothes, “Nyork” that time. I would cover his fashion shows and interview him for some special segments. His talent and creativity eventually brought him bigger and brighter opportunities. He is now, the Francis Libiran. (taray nung may pa-the!)
I remember wearing Francis Libiran suits in all the formal occasions that I hosted during my stay in TV5. He was always one text away if I needed something to wear for a special event. (well, minsan si Arsi na inaabala ko!) I would just visit his shop. His staff would always present options to me. (feeling sikat na artista ako, ganyan!) My unforgettable moments with Francis were when he asked me to wear a suit he made for Piolo Pascual for a fashion show (parang naramdaman ko muscles ni Papa P!) and when I wore his own suit. (naubusan na! lahat naka–out na kasi may malaking event sya!)

It really felt good whenever I would say “thank you Francis Libiran for my suit.” (iba yung mga gawa nya, parang may sariling buhay! Lumalapat sa katawan!) I am proud of his achievements here and abroad. (Pinoy pride indeed! Love you bro!) I’m sure he will soar higher and bolder!
