Last Mile School in Negros Oriental receives schools supplies from DepEd


As it prepares for the resumption of face-to-face classes, a Last Mile School in Negros Oriental received school supplies for its students from the Department of Education (DepEd).

DepEd, in a statement issued Thursday, Dec. 15, said that its officials delivered school supplies for the learners of Olympia Elementary School in line with its mission to provide support to learners in remote areas.

Representing Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones, DepEd Undersecretary for Field Operations Revsee Escobedo formally handed out school supplies, school bags, and shoes to students of the Last Mile school.

“On behalf of the Department of Education, ako'y nagpapasalamat sa ating mga guro sa kanilang sakripisyo, sa kanilang (I thank our teachers for their sacrifice, for their) efforts and initiatives ,” Escobedo said.

Olympia ES is considered as one of the DepEd’s Last Mile Schools. To reach the school, visitors need to ride a boat for 30 minutes from Bais City proper.

Meanwhile, Escobedo also highlighted that Olympia ES will be part of the expanded implementation of the limited face-to-face classes.

“I was informed by our Regional Director that by January 2022 ang (the) Olympia Elementary School and Olympia High School will participate sa ating (in our) expanded face-to-face classes,” Escobedo said.

Aside from Escobedo, Head Executive Assistant and Human Resource and Organizational Development Director Nina Bianca Sanglay, DepEd Region VII Director Salustiano Jimenez, DepEd Region VII Assistant Director Cristito Eco, and other Central and field office officials joined the turnover ceremony.
