COVID-19 positivity rate in QC down to 1.11 %

Mayor Joy Belmonte said the citizens’ adherence to the basic health protocols and cooperation in the vaccination drive led to the steady drop in COVID-19 indicators in Quezon City.

“As we celebrate the Christmas season, QCitizens remain observant of the basic health protocols and the importance of getting vaccinated. This then resulted in a consistent decrease in COVID-19 indicators,” the mayor stressed.

From Dec. 7 to 13, the OCTA research group said the COVID-19 positivity rate in the city dropped to 1.11 percent from 1.28 percent in the previous week.

The average daily new cases in QC are 20, the lowest since the pandemic peaked.

Meanwhile, the average daily attack rate per 100,000 population is .63 while the reproduction number slightly increased to .34 from .32 last week.

“We look forward to welcoming 2022 with renewed hope that the city and the rest of the country will recover from COVID-19,” she added.

For the first time since the pandemic started, there are no areas under special concern lockdown in the city.

As of Wednesday, Dec.15, the city has 257 active cases, 178,408 recoveries, and 1,7624 deaths.
