Only 42 areas are under granular lockdown all over the country, a testament to the effectiveness of the Alert Level System being enforced against the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) according to Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año.
In a briefing with President Duterte, Año reported that the places under the granular lockdown has affected 51 households involving 107 individuals.
“Titingnan po natin sa National Capital Region, zero (granular lockdown areas) na po. Wala ng area sa NCR ang nasa granular lockdown (Let us look at the National Capital Region, there is zero. No NCR area is under granular lockdown),’’ Año said.
In the enforcement of health protocols, Año said that there was an upswing in the number of face mask violators in a week but the mass gathering violations dipped over the same period.
“Tumaas din nang kaunti ang ating pagva-violate sa physical distancing. Tuloy-tuloy pa rin po nating i-implement ito para ma-instill natin ang disiplina sa ating mga kababayan (Physical distancing violations increased slightly. We are continuously implementing this to instill discipline among our people),’’ he added.
With regards to the anti-illegal drugs drive, Año noted that 940 operations were conducted from Dec. 5 to 11 citing that the campaign against dangerous drugs is still intensified despite the pandemic.
During the said period, Año said 1,253 drug personalities were arrested with 21 surrenderers and no fatalities.
“Ang total estimated value na ating nasamsam (illegal drugs) sa loob ng anim na araw ay P72,869,498. (the total estimated value of the seized illegal drugs in six days is P72,869,498),’’ the DILG chief pointed out. (Chito A. Chavez)
