Blacklist International’s shock loss to BloodThirstyKing in the upper bracket of the Mobile Legends Bang Bang: M3 World Championship came as an eye-opener for the back-to-back MPL Philippines champions according to its captain Jonmar “OhmyV33nus” Villaluna and head coach Kristoffer “Bon Chan” Ricaplaza.

For OhmyV33nus, the loss gave them the opportunity to reset and revisit their mindset in the world meet.
“Sobrang eye-opener ‘nung natalo kami sa BTK kasi madalas kami manalo sa Season 7, Season 8, MPLI, MSC, parang lagi kami nanalo halos to the point na nakakalimutan na namin kung bakit kami naglalaro,” said the veteran roam/mid-laner.
“Nag uusap-usap kami parang nagkaroon kami ng open forum kung bakit kami natalo and dun uli nabuo yung kung anong meron kami,” added V33nus.
That talk between the players worked well for the PH bets, evident to the team’s much better performance on its 2-1 victory over Onic Esports in their lower bracket match.

Bon Chan echoed the sentiment of his team’s captain, saying that the squad veered away from the team’s identity during their game against BTK.
“Gusto nila 1v1, outplay to outplay ‘yung gusto nila, nakalimutan namin ‘yung own identity namin na teka bat tayo napunta sa ganyan eh objective minded tayo, which is 'yun binalik lang namin (vs Onic),” said Bon Chan.

With Blacklist back to its deadly form, Bon Chan was asked whether the PH champs are ready to face BTK once again. The veteran coach only had a swift answer.
“100 percent we can face them,” said Bon Chan.
“Di na (threat ang BTK). Isa pa, bumaba sila sa lower,” said the Blacklist coach in a separate interview with the PH shoutcasters in the Filipino stream.
OhmyV33nus is also looking forward to that match since Blacklist had never lost twice against the same team since the MPL PH Season 7.
“Ever since we came to Blacklist International we haven’t been defeated by the same team twice so I’m looking forward in facing BTK again,” said V33nus.
The rematch against BTK however might have to wait as the Filipinos still needs to overcome Vivo Keyd to advance to the next round of the lower bracket.
BTK, meanwhile, will take on EVOS Singapore in the upper bracket and a loss for the North American squad would make the rematch possible.
