Filipinos in Europe urged to seek help from PH embassies for repatriation
Distressed Filipinos in Europe are encouraged to seek the assistance of Philippine embassies in their areas for their repatriation, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday, Dec. 14.

Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Sarah Lou Arriola made the call amid the emergence of the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in several European countries.
“We encourage our distressed kababayan in Europe to contact our embassies the soonest in order for them to join in this repatriation flight,” Arriola said.
The undersecretary said that the department will also mount a chartered flight scheduled on Dec. 23 to bring home more Filipinos from Europe in time for Christmas.
“The chartered flight is primarily to aid our distressed Filipino kababayan in European countries which are under the red list," Arriola said.
"We will also extend the flight to distressed stranded Filipino passengers bound for the Philippines as a result of policies put in place to curb the effect of COVID-19 Omicron variant,” Arriola added.
The Foreign Affairs official also announced that they are expecting nine overseas Filipinos in Russia to arrive Tuesday.
The repatriates, she said, are arriving via a flight from Amsterdam.
"The group met with economic difficulties following the pandemic's negative impact on their livelihood and legal status in Russia," Arriola said.
“We are relieved that our timely repatriation assistance has given them the chance to fly back to the Philippines,” she added.
