Guinness World Records announced on Dec. 13 that BTS V (https://www.instagram.com/thv/) broke the record for the “fastest time to reach 1 million followers on Instagram” in just 43 minutes.

“The record for the fastest time to reach 1 million followers on Instagram often changes hands as new celebs join the platform,” according to Guinness World Records.

BTS’ V smashed the record set by NCT’s Taeil, who set the title in July when he reached one million followers on Instagram “in just one hour and 45 minutes after his first post,” according to Guinness.

Other celebrities who held the world record before were Rupert Grint and Jennifer Aniston, Sir David Attenborough, David Beckham, Pope Francis and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Guinness World Records announced that BTS’ V also broke for the “fastest time to reach 10 million followers on Instagram,” which he achieved in four hours and 52 minutes.

“Although V was the one to break the records, all members of the septet - V, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, and Jungkook - now have over 20 million followers each,” Guinness said. BTS’ V has 25.6 million Instagram followers as of writing.

V’s world records add to BTS’ titles they set in 2021.

BTS broke five world records when they released “Butter” in May. They set five Guinness World Records titles: Most viewers for the premiere of a video on YouTube with 3.9 million concurrent viewers, most viewers for the premiere of a music video on YouTube, most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours with 108.2 million views, most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group and record for the most streamed track on Spotify in the first 24 hours with 11.04 million streams.

They were inducted into the Guinness World Records 2022 Hall of Fame for earning 23 world record titles.
