Bacoor LGU aims for herd immunity by Dec. 17

BACOOR CITY – The city government is optimistic that it will achieve herd immunity against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) among adults during the second run of Bayanihan, Bakunahan from Dec. 15 to 17.

"We are confident that we will reach our target these three days," Mayor Lani Mercado Revilla said during the launch of the second run of Bayanihan, Bakunahan in Main Square Mall on Monday (Dec. 13).

"Kung nagawa po namin na 12,000 per day, as much as possible, mahigitan pa namin kasi malapit na po kami in reaching the 70 percent herd immunity for adults, nasa 50 percent plus na po kami (If we were able to administer 12,000 jabs per day, we would like to top that as much as possible, because we're close to reaching 70 percent herd immunity for adults. We are already at 50 percent plus," she added.

According to the local government unit (LGU), 83 percent of its target adult population received their first dose while 52 percent are already fully vaccinated.

As for pediatric vaccination, 53.65 percent has received their first jab and 23.77 percent are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Also present during the launch were National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 Chief Implementer and Vaccine Czar Sec. Carlito G. Galvez Jr. and Deputy Chief Implementer Sec. Vince B. Dizon.

The city government has set up ten vaccination centers for the rollout of Bayanihan, Bakunahan 2.
