Onic PH gets wish to face MPLI nemesis RRQ

Onic Philippines didn’t hide its desire to face Indonesia’s RRQ Hoshi when the Philippine representatives were asked who they want to face between RRQ or Todak following their sweep of RSG Singapore in their upper bracket match.

Gerald “Dlarskie” Trinchera wanted to face Indonesia’s “Kings of Kings” to avenge Onic's earlier defeat during the MPL Invitationals last month.

“Gusto ko makatapat sa next na laban naming is yung RRQ. Sila kasi yung tumalo sa amin sa MPLI, gusto namin bumawi and sila rin yung parang tropa namin dito sa M3,” said Dlarskie.

That wish was granted as RRQ dispatched Malaysia’s Todak, 3-1, to set up the titanic clash against Onic in the upper bracket semis.

Onic vowed to come in more prepared this time around to avoid a repeat of their MPLI match where they lost to RRQ via a 2-0 sweep.

“Mas iimprove po namin yung heroes choice namin para kasi nung nangyari ng MPLI, nag iisip pa ng ibang hero parang nag struggle pa po sa pickings pero ngayon ieenhance po,” said Ian “Beemo” Sergio.

Dlarskie also felt that the two powerhouse squads were just evenly matched if their first game against RRQ in MPLI would be the basis.

“Game 1 namin sobrang dikit lang talaga kumbaga sino unang magkamali, isang clash lang na magkamali, sila yung matatalo,” recalled Dlarskie while also admitted that the team had a wrong pick during the draft in Game 2 which resulted to the team’s downfall in that series.

“Nagkaroon kasi kami ng problem nung Game 2 na wrong pick kami kaya naabuso nila kung gaano kalakas yung hero nila,” added Dlarskie.

The match, however, will be in a different battleground. A lot has also changed for both squads since their last encounter with Yesaya Armando “Xinn” Wowiling and Deden Muhammad “Clay” Nurhasan now returning to take their main five spots for RRQ this M3.

Likewise, Onic PH’s lineup had evolved as well with Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy now taking the roaming role in place of Beemo and Jaylord “Hatred” Gonzales moving on the mid-lane spot after playing MPL PH Season 8 mostly on the jungler and gold lane roles.

All eyes will also be on the head-to-head matchup between two of the top junglers in the tournament in Kairi “Kairi”Rayosdelsol and Albert Neilsen “Alberttt” Iskandar.

Onic PH and RRQ Hoshi still have a few more days to prepare for their match which is set on Wednesday, Dec. 15.
