DOH commends Caloocan City for reaching 100% of COVID-19 vaccination target
The Caloocan City government on Monday, Dec. 13, was recognized by the Department of Health in the National Capital Region (DOH-NCR) for reaching 100 percent of its COVID-19 vaccination target.
The certificate was received by Mayor Oscar "Oca" Malapitan, who was also awarded for his participation and assistance during the "Bayanihan, Bakunahan National Vaccination Days" from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.
"Ang mga sertipikong ito ay patunay na lubos ang ginagawang pagsisikap ng Pamahalaang Lungsod upang mabakunahan ang mga mamamayan nito, maging sa mga kalapit na lugar, upang patuloy nating malampasan ang pandemya at magkaroon ng ligtas at protektadong pamayanan (These certificates are proof that the local government is doing all efforts to vaccinate its citizens, even those from the areas nearby, so that we can end the pandemic and have a safe and protected community)," Malapitan said.
The City Health Department was also recognized for its effective implementation of the vaccination program in the city.
During the National Vaccination Days, the local government sent a vaccination team to Obando, Bulacan to help in its COVID-19 inoculation program.
The city is targeting to vaccinate 1.2 million individuals out of its approximately 1.7 million total population.
As of Dec. 11, a total of 2,092,723 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered in the city.
The city government said 1,099,417 individuals were given their first dose while 967,047 were fully vaccinated.
There are also 26,259 health workers, senior citizens, persons with comorbidities, and adults who got their booster jabs.
