Occidental Mindoro earthquake: Magnitude 5.5 tremor felt as far as Metro Manila

An earthquake measuring 5.5-magnitude on the Richter scale jolted Occidental Mindoro on Monday afternoon, Dec. 13, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
Based on its earthquake bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor occurred at around 5:12 p.m., with the epicenter traced 23 kilometers (km) northeast of Paluan, Occidental Mindoro.
It was initially measured at magnitude 5.3 but Phivolcs later revised it to magnitude 5.5
Phivolcs said the earthquake was "moderately strong" at Intensity IV in Calatagan, Batangas and Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro.
It was felt as a "weak" tremor at Intensity III in Batangas City, Lemery, Malvar and Bauan, Batangas; Tagaytay City and Amadeo, Cavite; Quezon City; Manila City; and Pasay City
Meanwhile, it was "slightly felt" at Intensity II in Taguig City; Mandaluyong City; Makati City; Caloocan City; Malabon City; Tanay, Rizal; and San Felipe, Zambales.
Its instruments also recorded the earthquake at Intensity IV in Calatagan, Batangas and Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro; Intensity III in Tagaytay City, Plaridel in Bulacan, Batangas City, and San Jose in Occidental Mindoro; Intensity II in San Ildefonso, Calumpit, and San Rafael in Bulacan, Carmona in Cavite, Muntinlupa City, Olongapo City, Malolos City, Dolores in Quezon, and Talisay in Batangas; and Intensity I in Pasig City, Quezon City, Las Piñas City, Malabon City, Marikina City, Guagua in Pampanga, Cabanatuan City, Mulanay and Mauban in Quezon, and Pandi and Marilao in Bulacan.
Phivolcs said aftershocks are likely to occur due to this earthquake.
