DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan – Two individuals died due to drowning in separate incidents in the province on Sunday afternoon, December 12.
30-year-old Jeffrey Pivneda, a resident of Angeles City in Pampanga province, drowned while swimming in San Fabian Beach.
Investigation reveals Pineda, along with his companion Rogelson Victoria were swimming when a strong wave hit them and eventually dragged them into the deeper part of the sea.
They were spotted and eventually rescued by members of the San Fabian Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), but Pineda was declared dead on arrival at the Region 1 Medical Center.
Meanwhile, in Barangay Patar, Bolinao, 34-year-old Jansen Sai of Pasig City drowned after attempting to retrieve his slipper which was swept away by the waves.
Prior to the incident, the victim along with his companions had a drinking spree in a resort, and eventually had their lunch. They eventually went to the beach to take a bath when Sai’s companion Michael Mabit, saw him drowning as the waves continued to overwhelm him.
He was eventually rescued, but was declared dead on arrival at the Rillera Medical Hospital.
