The Philippine National Police (PNP) will be deploying its personnel to observe in the conduct of the nationwide mock elections on Dec. 29.
The move, according to PNP Chief General Dionardo Carlos, is aimed at providing policemen concerned the opportunity to observe the actual flow of process for the national and local elections in May next year.
He said the pre-election activity will help the PNP in determining strategic plan for the deployment and evaluation on the aspects that need improvement.
“We will be waiting for the official advisory from Comelec (Commission on Elections) regarding the planned mock elections. But definitely, the PNP is willing to extend assistance for this activity,” Carlos said.
Under the Omnibus Election Code, the PNP personnel aren’t allowed to get inside the different voting precincts, but are assigned to maintain peace and order around the vicinity.
The PNP will also be tasked to secure the transportation of ballots and other election paraphernalia.
