PH Red Cross bats for regular RT-PCR testing, COVID-19 vaccination
To combat coronavirus disease (COVID-19), especially now that the holiday season is fast approaching, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) is pushing for regular reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing and COVID-19 vaccination.

“We are at war against COVID-19.We must ensure that you are tested regularly and are fully vaccinated before we go into a celebration with our families. Mag practice tayo ng health protocols upang maiwasan ang hawaan (Let’s practice health protocols to avoid virus transmission),” said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Senator Richard "Dick" Gordon in a statement on Sunday, Dec. 12.
Gordon also reminded the public to remain vigilant against the threat of the Omicron variant.
He highlighted the importance of practicing minimum health standards such as washing of hands, wearing of mask, and observing social distancing “despite the decreasing number of cases” in the country.
The premier humanitarian organization has so far conducted more than 5,040,454 RT-PCR tests and vaccinated more than 736,297 individuals through its 25 Bakuna Centers and Bakuna Buses deployed nationwide.
Though it recently hit the 5 million milestone for COVID-19 testing, the organization vowed to continue conducting testings and vaccinations “until the country beats COVID-19.” (Charie Mae F. Abarca)
