Fisherman kills brother over drunkenness in Negros town


BACOLOD CITY – Drunkenness triggered the commotion between two brothers that claimed the life of one of them in Barangay Bocana, Ilog, Negros Occidental on Saturday.

Police identified the victim as Marvin Demson, 36.

According to the police, the suspect identified as Mario Demson Jr., 39, a fisherman, and the victim went to the latter's house to eat after coming from a drinking session.

However, both of them figured into a heated argument, wherein the victim allegedly punched the suspect, hitting the latter's mouth.

The suspect retaliated by allegedly stabbing the victim twice in his abdomen, using a knife tucked on his waist.

The victim's live-in partner tried to pacify them but she was also attacked by the suspect.

Fortunately, she evaded the attack and grabbed a wood to pacify the suspect, who was later arrested by a barangay official.

Police recovered from the crime scene the knife used in the incident.

The victim was taken to a hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.
