Escudero: Sorsogon joins world in celebrating Universal Health Coverage day

Senatorial aspirant and Sorsogon governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero said the province is joining the rest of the world in celebrating the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Day as declared by the United Nations (UN) to raise awareness on the need for strong, equitable and resilient health systems and universal health coverage for everyone.

This year’s theme, Escudero pointed out, serves as a reminder to both the public and private sector to “Leave No One’s Health Behind: Invest in health systems for all” as they work together to ensure the health and safety of the population especially at a time of COVID-19 pandemic.

“Kaya naman po ang liderato ng lalawigan ng Sorsogon, kasama ang iba’t ibang kawani ng gobyerno, mga lokal na pamahalaan at ang pribadong sektor ay patuloy na nagtutulong-tulong upang masiguro ang kalusugan ng bawat Sorsoganon (That’s why the leadership of the Sorsogon province, including other government agencies, local government and private sector are helping each other to ensure the helath of each Sorsoganon),” Escudero said in a statement.

Escudero said the province was able to achieve International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification during this year for all sectors of the provincial government and nine (9) provincial public hospitals.

The province is now seeking to level up its mandate of offering public health service by aspiring for international recognition.

“The provincial government of Sorsogon takes this occasion to renew our commitment to put a premium on the health and wellness of our people by providing them with a world class healthcare system they truly deserve regardless of social status in life,” said Escudero, who is seeking re-election in the May 2022 senatorial elections.

“Patuloy po ang ating misyon na maiangat ang antas ng ating health coverage at medical facilities. Malaki ang aking paniniwala na kung nagawa man ito ng Sorsogon, kaya rin nating magawa sa buong Pilipinas (We will continue our mission to level up our health coverage and medical facilities. I firmly believe that if Sorsogon is able to do this, we can also do this in the whole Philippines),” he stressed.
