DSWD reports P950-M worth of stockpiles, standby funds


As the country's weather bureau urged residents and travelers, especially in Visayas and Mindanao, to prepare against the possible impact of a tropical depression, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported Sunday, Dec. 12, that it has available stockpiles and standby funds amounting to more than P950 million.

The DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) report showed that as of 6 p.m., Dec. 12, the agency’s total standby funds stood at P87.33 million. Of this, P19.68 million has been earmarked as quick response fund (QRF) available at the DSWD Central Office and P67.65 million at the Field Offices.

The DSWD has available stockpiles worth P862.75 million. These include P424.14 million worth of non-food items (NFIs) and P216.65 million worth of other food items.

A total of 360,097 family food packs (FFPs) worth P221.97 million are available for distribution, based on the latest DROMIC report.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday, Dec. 12,that the tropical depression "has a greater chance of hitting and crossing the Visayas-Mindanao area in the next three to five days."
