Zero COVID-19 deaths in Sulu, Tawi-Tawi during Delta surge -- OCTA

The provinces of Sulu and Tawi-Tawi have not seen a single death due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) during the four-month surge of the Delta variant in the Philippines, based on the monitoring of the independent research group OCTA.
OCTA research fellow Dr. Guido David on Saturday, Dec. 11, pointed out that data from the DataDrop of the Department of Health (DOH) has shown that "Sulu and Tawi-Tawi had zero COVID-19 deaths during this period ."
"Meanwhile, these provinces had fewer than 10 deaths per million population: Misamis Occidental, Masbate, Basilan, City of Isabela, Sarangani, Zamboanga Sibugay, Camarines Norte, Maguindanao, and Sultan Kudarat," David said in a tweet.
Based on OCTA's monitoring, the top 20 provinces that were most affected by the Delta wave, were Cagayan, Benguet, Apayao, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Guimaras, Aurora, Cebu, Ilocos Norte, Zambales, Isabela, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Abra, Kalinga, Iloilo, La Union, Mountain Province, South Cotabato, and Marinduque.
Out of 84 provinces, regions, and independent cities, David noted that Metro Manila only ranked 39th in terms of the impact of the Delta surge, specifically on the number of reported COVID-19 deaths per 1 million people, from July to September 2021.
" note that the number of deaths is still subject to change due to late reports," David said.
"Data was extracted from the Department of Health DataDrop any discrepancies in data due to error, reporting lag, etc. should be addressed to DOH," he added.
