This warm cabin-chic restaurant in Tagaytay is where art meets dining

King Arts and Restaurant are serving mouthwatering international cuisines with culture and arts on the side

Art and food concepts are not relatively new in the dining and creative landscape in the Philippines. But after more than a year of home isolation, to-go meals, and museum closures, the hybrid experience is becoming almost new again. And if you are heading down south, this arts and food spot is definitely worth the drive.

King Arts and Restaurant

After the recently concluded “Lerma’s 5D” exhibit, a collection of artworks crafted by female artists from varied professional and geographical backgrounds, King Arts and Restaurant in Tagaytay continues to celebrate local artistry with its upcoming two-man exhibit featuring artists James Hermogenes and Carlo Lamano, to be launched on Dec. 12, 2021. Dubbed “Gilded Grounds,” the collection will feature their skills in landscape expressionism that occasionally veer toward abstraction with their use of metallic hues, adding distinct character to a well-trod art movement.

The two deploy paint splatters, bold brush strokes, and rich impasto applied across the foreground to mimic the textures and elements of the earth, all under gradients, which evoke the moods of the sky. This is very fitting, given King Art and Restaurant’s proximity to the vistas along the Tagaytay ridge overlooking Taal lake.

Their earth-toned works also complement the restaurant’s warm interiors buoyed by its wood furniture, most notably its Narra hardwood long tables and conference tables, which can also be purchased.

Of course, this wouldn’t be a multi-sensory experience without good food. Patrons of the restaurant know the place as an Italian, Thai, Indian, Dutch, Greek, and Filipino haven. Art enthusiasts can expect to feast on offerings made with the best seasonal picks and organic ingredients, switching up the familiar without deviating from the comfortable.
