Manileños may soon have fun and spend quality time with their families as the newly renovated Manila Zoo will open in the coming weeks, Manila mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso said on Friday, Dec 11.

“Sino gustong pumunta ng zoo? Malapit nang matapos ang Manila Zoo. Gusto ninyong pumunta? Ito ay lumuwag, umayos at gumanda. Tingin ko in a matter of few weeks matatapos na (Who wants to go to the zoo? The Manila Zoo is nearing completion. Do you want to go? It was widened, renovated, and beautified. I think in a matter of a few weeks it will be completed)," Domagoso said during his dialogue with residents of Barangay 775, Sagrada Familia in San Andres, Manila.
Domagoso said it has always been his dream to build a zoo in the city that can compete with the world-famous Singapore Zoo.
"Matutupad na natin ang pangarap natin na lumaban sa Singapore Zoo dahil sa may Manila Zoo tayong mga batang Maynila. Galing po ako nung isang araw, sumilip po ako. Naku, matutuwa po kayo (We will be able to fulfil our dream of competing with the Singapore Zoo because we have the Manila Zoo, children of Manila. I went the other day, I peeked. You will be happy),” said the Manila mayor, adding visitors can now witness a zoo that can be considered one of the best in Asia.
Domagoso also invited the residents of San Andres to visit the New Manila Zoo and enjoy the wildlife and botanical garden.
The redeveloped Manila Zoo will have new facilities such as a museum, a restaurant, a veterinary hospital, new animal habitats, a coffee shop, and a new parking area.
Domagoso earlier announced that the city government of Manila is partnering with the Cebu Safari and Adventure Park for future exchanges of wildlife and animal medicines.
