Leg 4 champ Purefoods, Limitless secure QF spots in PBA 3x3

Recent champion Purefoods and Limitless produced three victories each to secure quarterfinals berths in the fifth leg of the PBA 3x3 tournament Saturday, Dec. 11 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Joseph Eriobu, Pao Javelona, Jed Mendoza and Jun Bonsubre, kept the form that gave the TJ Titans the fourth leg crown last weekend by defeating the NorthPort Batang Pier (21-19), Zamboanga Valientes (21-6) and Pioneer Pro Tibay in Pool A.

Brandon Rosser, Jorey Napoles, Reymar Caduyac and Marvin Hayes also put the Appmasters at 3-0 in the same pool with wins over the Valientes (22-7), Pro Tibay (22-13) and Batang Pier (22-10).

Both teams will meet Sunday to determine the top team in Pool A and the right to face the winner of the knockout match between the third placer of Pool B and C.

Also advancing in the quarters are Meralco and Terrafirma with two wins apiece in Pool B.

Meralco’s Tonino Gonzaga, Alfred Batino, Joseph Sedurifa and Dexter Maiquez slipped past Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, 19-18, before topping CAVITEX, 21-19.

Terrafirma’s Dhon Reverente, TH Tumalip, Matt Salem and Jebb Bulawan prevailed over Ginebra, 21-11, and CAVITEX, 21-19.

Platinum Karaoke leads Pool C closed in on a spot in the last eight with a 2-0 record after Chris de Chavez, Karl Dehesa, JR Alabanza beat San Miguel Beer, 22-20, and TNT, 21-17.

Pioneer is virtually assured of securing third spot in Pool A and a quarters berth with a 1-2 record while NorthPort went 1-3 and Zamboanga is winless in three outings.

CAVITEX and Ginebra are both at 0-2 in Pool B and will dispute a place in the knockout match for eighth spot in the quarters.

San Miguel beat Sista, 21-11, putting both teams even at 1-1 in Pool C while TNT, still reeling from the loss of Jeremiah Gray to an ACL injury, is in danger of missing the quarters with a 0-2 record.
