T1 just gave Team SMG a quick reality check as it stamped its class all over the Malaysian squad with a swift 2-0 sweep in their DPC SEA Division I match on Thursday, Dec 9.

Team SMG had all the momentum on its side heading into the game after sweeping the TI10 SEA representative Fnatic in a rousing debut last week. That momentum however didn’t translate to a victory as SMG was sent back crashing to earth by the mighty T1 squad in their match to improve to a 2-0 record and have a share of the early lead in the standings with Motivate.Trust Gaming.
The Korea-based team proved to be a different breed as it mauled down Team SMG with Karl “Karl” Jayme at the forefront of the attack in the two-game stretch.
Karl ran wild on his Razor with a 12-4-13 KDA while Carlo “Kuku” Palad and Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon provided the support with 8-1-23 and 7-2-15 performances on the Queen of Pain and Morphling respectively.
After a back-and-forth action in the first 20 minutes of the series opener, T1 pulled away for good after a huge clash where it took down four heroes to the side of Team SMG. T1 ended the first game in just 30 minutes of play and with a 38-16 score line.
T1 showed no mercy in the second game as Karl had his way once again this time on the Lina finishing with a 17-3-13 KDA.
Unlike in the first game, Team SMG had a much comfortable lead in the early game, although that quickly vanished after several team fights which went to T1’s favor. T1 never relinquished the lead from that point as Karl and 23Savage overwhelmed Team SMG in the most crucial team fights to ice the series with a 35-17 Game 2 onslaught.
T1 will stake its clean record against fellow unbeaten team Motivate.Trust on December 15 while Team SMG tests its mettle against another contender in Boom Esports.
