The Quezon City Business Permits and Licensing Department (BPLD) and the Department of Building Official (DBO) were recently lauded for their “ease in making business” efforts and received awards during a summit organized by the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) on Thursday, Dec. 9.
The Ease of Doing Business Summit was attended by national government agencies, local government units, and private corporations.
The city government received the “Doing Business Competitiveness Mover” recognition for providing efficient and fast services to business owners, especially those who are starting their business in the city.
“We are very thankful to ARTA, led by Director General Atty. Jeremiah Belgica. These are attestations that the city’s initiatives have been effective in streamlining government services and making them more accessible, convenient, and efficient," Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
In October, the city government reported that 95 percent of business permit applications were all submitted online which made the process more efficient in reducing COVID-19 transmission.
The QC E-Services kiosks were also put up in the city’s District Action Offices, business centers in malls, and in barangays.
Through the kiosks, citizens may access the City's online services under Business One Stop Shop, register for the QCitizen ID, QC Vax Easy, apply for Occupational Permit, Health and Sanitary Permit, apply for Pangkabuhayang QC and Kalingang QC (for business), pay for Real Property Tax, and apply for Persons with Disability Affairs Office ID and Office of Senior Citizens Affairs ID.
“From 2019, malaki na ang nagawa ng QC on Ease of Doing Business, at kung nagawa ng Quezon City within a short period of time, walang dahilan ang ibang lungsod na hindi magawa ito. Quezon City is truly a benchmark and standard on how the country is doing in terms of Ease of Doing Business (From 2019, QC on Ease of Doing Business has done a lot, and if Quezon City has done it within a short period of time, there is no reason for other cities not to do it. Quezon City is truly a benchmark and standard on how the country is doing in terms of Ease of Doing Business),” Belgica said during the launch of the e-services kiosks in November.
The DBO was also given a special citation as the 3rd Big Impact Indicator for its effort in line with the “Dealing with Construction Permits” part in the Doing Business 2020 report.
DBO has been a constant partner of ARTA in the crafting and enforcement of policies related to Dealing with Construction Permits.
"Hindi tayo titigil dito. We will further strengthen and improve our business processes to attract more investors as we move towards making QC the preferred business destination (We will not stop here. We will further strengthen and improve our business processes to attract more investors as we move towards making QC the preferred business destination),” Mayor Belmonte said.
