Former Pasig Mayor Robert “Bobby” Eusebio said on Thursday, Dec. 9, that unauthorized access to his Facebook page was detected since last week and that the post on his alleged tirade against the lack of Christmas decorations in the city was a result of hacking.
“Batay sa aming pagsasaliksik, ang hindi awtorisadong pag access sa aking Facebook (FB) Page ay nagsimula noong Disyembre 2, 2021 sa ganap na 11:22 AM. Agad naming itong naiparating sa Facebook, at sa pakikipagtulungan ng aming Information Technology (IT) expert, ay masaya kong ipinararating na atin na pong nabawi ang BOBBY EUSEBIO Official FB Page (Based on our investigation, unauthorized access to my Facebook page was detected on Dec. 2 at around 11:22 a.m. We have raised this issue with FB and with the help of our IT expert, we have recovered the Bobby Eusebio Official FB page),” said Eusebio in the Dec. 9 announcement.
Last Dec. 2, a Facebook post that had since been deleted, was uploaded on Eusebio’s page regarding the lack of Pasig’s holiday decorations which normally are very lavish as part of its “Paskotitap” celebrations.
“Parating na siya si Hesukristo ang ating manunubos. Pasig, ano na ang nangyari? Walang parol? Walang kumukutitap sa kalsada? Hindi maramdaman ang diwa ng Pasko. Pandemic pa din ba ang dahilan? Dito sa atin, ito ang makikita sa ating Lungsod...” (Jesus Christ, our redeemer, is coming. Pasig, what happened? No Christmas lanterns? No twinkling lights on the street? You can’t feel the spirit of Christmas. Is the pandemic still the reason? This is what you see in our city),” said the now deleted post from Eusebio’s page.
Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto responded to these posted rants in an interview with ABS-CBN.
“Halimbawa, dati ang nabibigyan lang ng Pamaskong Handog kung sino ‘yung malapit sa nakaupo. Ngayon, binibigyan natin bawat household, may Pamaskong Handog (In the past, only people close to the one in power received the Pamaskong Handog. Now, we’re giving every household a Pamaskong Handog),” said Sotto referring to the city’s Christmas offering.
Pasig City’s Pamaskong Handog 2021 program which began on Monday, Nov. 29, saw the distribution of 375,000 gift bags containing holiday food staples to city residents.
