The Department of Health (DOH) has commended on Friday, Dec. 10, the Marikina City local government for vaccinating 100 percent of its targeted eligible population against COVID-19.
Mayor Marcy Teodoro was also lauded for allowing residents from neighboring cities and provinces to be inoculated in Marikina City during the Bayanihan, Bakunahan National COVID-19 Vaccination Days on Nov. 29 to Dec. 1.
Teodoro received the certificates of recognition and appreciation during the awarding ceremony attended by the officials of DOH-National Capital Region (NCR) and Marikina Inter-Agency Task Force Against COVID-19.
Teodoro was joined by his wife Marjorie Ann during the event.
As of Dec. 7, the city has logged a total of 26,092 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 31 of which are active, 25,406 recoveries, and 655 deaths.
Meanwhile, Marikina City also achieved its herd immunity in the first week of December after 425,000 residents were fully vaccinated.
