Phoenix Super LPG coach Topex Robinson said Paul Harris is laser-focused on what’s ahead instead of trying to make up for a stint that was cut short after just one game five years ago.

Harris had 24 points, 15 rebounds and three assists in his return as the Fuel Masters in a 103-100 comeback win over the Terrafirma Dyip to begin the Governors’ Cup campaign Thursday, Dec. 10 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

“He never talks about the past,” Robinson said. “What he really focuses on is the opportunity now with Phoenix.”

It was the former Best Import’s first PBA appearance since playing for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel against GlobalPort (now-NorthPort) in the first game of the 2016 Governors’ Cup.

Harris produced 14 points and 10 rebounds in Ginebra’s 93-81 win at the Mall of Asia Arena, but hyperextended his right thumb during the third quarter of that contest.

The injury forced Ginebra not only to find a replacement, but also changed the complexion of the crowd-favorite squad that at the time had not won a championship since 2008.

Coach Tim Cone brought in Justin Brownlee, whose brilliance enabled the Gin Kings to win that conference’s title that ended the long dryspell. Ginebra would later bag three of its next four championships with Brownlee.

Robinson expressed confidence that Harris can consistently replicate the form he had his pre-Ginebra stint, like he did in his maiden stint when TNT captured the 2011 Commissioner’s Cup crown.

“We never mentioned about about his stint with Ginebra, though he had a lot of fond memories playing for Ginebra. That's why he's excited because he knows the passion of the Filipino fans and he loves it and he can't wait to really have fans watching our games,” said Robinson.

“He's really passionate about it. He rubs off of that. And again, he's just a gem for us and we're just happy we have him.”
