Two Indians were arrested by an off-duty police officer after they tried to rob their fellow citizen at a junk shop in Lamesa Ugong, Valenzuela City, on Thursday morning, Dec. 9.
According to the police report, the suspects were identified as Manjot Singh Buttar and Jagdeep Singh, both Indian nationals.
Police Cpl. Christian Llagas Fernandez of the District Mobile Force Battalion of the Quezon City Police District (DMFB QCPD) was already off duty when he chanced upon the suspects robbing a fellow Indian.
It was learned that the victim went to the RMB Junkshop to collect payments.
Police said the suspects approached the victim, held him at gunpoint and demanded money.
Fernandez shot Buttar in the left leg when the latter pointed a gun at him.
The other suspect was arrested by police operatives from Sub-Station 8 of the Valenzuela City Police Station.
Police recovered from the suspects a loaded gun, identification cards, 13 pieces of P100 bill, 12 pieces of P50 bill, five P20 bills, a cellphone, wallet, and a blue Honda Click motorcycle.
In a statement, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Major Gen. Vicente D. Danao Jr. commended Fernandez for his quick response to the crime.
