Metro Manila had the most number of new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases on Wednesday, Dec. 8, said the OCTA Research group in an official list released on Thursday, Dec. 9.
The group of independent experts identified 20 areas with the highest number of new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, Dec 8. Among the first five areas with the most number of new cases were Metro Manila (96 cases), Negros Occidental (23 cases), Cavite (16 cases), Palawan (13 cases), and Zamboanga del Sur (12 cases).
The following areas also had the highest number of new infections, completing the list released by OCTA:
South Cotabato – 12 cases
Iloilo – 10 cases
Albay – 10 cases
Rizal – 10 cases
Pangasinan – nine cases
Bulacan – nine cases
Tarlac – nine cases
Cebu – eight cases
Laguna – eight cases
Batangas – seven cases
Cotabato – seven cases
Benguet – seven cases
Oriental Mindoro – seven cases
Sorsogon – six cases
Catanduanes – six cases
“Data was automatically extracted from Department of Health’s (DOH) DataDrop. Any discrepancies in data due to error reporting lag, etc. should be addressed to DOH,” said OCTA.
On Wednesday, the DOH logged 370 new cases of COVID-19, which brought the country’s tally of infections to 2,835,593. (Charie Mae F. Abarca)
