Onic Philippines’ move to put Jaylord “Hatred” Gonzales on the midlane role has been making wonders so far for the Philippine representatives in the ongoing Mobile Legends: M3 World Championship in Singapore.

Onic PH surprised everyone when it unveiled its lineup in its opening match against Onic Indonesia with Hatred taking the midlane role while its team captain Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy moved to the roam position in place of Ian “Beemo” Sergio.

Hatred, who used to play as gold lane in MPL Philippines Season 8 and as a jungler during his days with the Execration team, flourished well on his new role, evident in his performance in the team’s group stage matches.

He was solid in the three-game stretch with a 7-4-1 KDA on the Aamon in the first game, 9-3-1 KDA on the Beatrix in the second, and 1-0-8 on the Pharsa in Onic’s final assignment

The 19-year-old pride of Caloocan offered Onic PH the flexibility it needs in the mid lane where assassins like Hayabusa, and Aamon or marksmen like Claude, Natan and Beatrix can thrive under the current META – heroes that Hatred is used to playing.

“Hatred is a powerful assassin (user) even when he is playing hyper carry that’s why he’s very comfortable using Aamon that’s why the team pulled it off,” said Baloyskie on Hatred’s surprise mid lane Aamon pick.

The move also allowed Baloyskie to play as the team tank and initiate the plays for the team – something that he cannot fully do when playing in the mid lane role.

“Hatred can play really good in the midlane and as a tank, I’m the playmaker of Onic, that’s why coach and the team decided that they move me to roamer (position),” explained Baloyskie.

With the adjustment, Onic finished atop the Group B standings with a 2-1 record and had also secured a spot in the upper bracket.
