Ignacio “Toting” Bunye, former mayor and congressman of Muntinlupa, has endorsed the candidacy of Muntinlupa Rep. Ruffy Biazon for mayor in the May 9, 2022 elections.
Biazon posted a photo on his Facebook account on Dec. 6 showing Bunye, also a former member of the Monetary Board of the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), raising his hand together with Raul Corro, majority floor leader of the Muntinlupa City Council.
“Isang karangalan ang makasama ang isa sa mga pinaka tanyag na Muntinlupeño. Siya ang nagsimula ng pag unlad ng Muntinlupa tungo sa pagiging highly urbanized city na naging susi sa paglaki nito sa kung ano ang lungsod ngayon (It is an honor to be with one of the most prominent Muntinlupeño. He was the one who started the progress of Muntinlupa towards being a highly urbanized city, which became the key to its growth to what the city is now today),” Biazon posted.
He added, “Naging Mayor, Congressman, Press Secretary at miyembro ng Monetary Board ng Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas. Maraming salamat po, Sec. Toting! (He became the Mayor, Congressman, Press Secretary and member of the Monetary Board of the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas. Thank you, Sec. Toting!).”
Biazon, who is serving his second consecutive term as Muntinlupa representative, is running for mayor. Incumbent Mayor Jaime Fresnedi is in his third and last term and is running for congressman. Biazon and Fresnedi are running under the One Muntinlupa political party.
The candidates for mayor in Muntinlupa are Biazon, Red Mariñas of People’s Reform Party (PRP), and independent candidates Nelson Benjamin and Oscar Marmeto.
