A total of 209 couples from District 6 tied the knot at the Kasalang Bayan sponsored by the Quezon City government at Fernwood Gardens on Monday, Dec.6.
Mayor Joy Belmonte led the ceremony organized by the office of Councilor Marivic Co-Pilar.
Aside from being the officiator of the mass wedding, Belmonte also served as principal sponsor of the newlyweds alongside Councilor Eric Medina, Barangay Culiat Captain Vic Bernardo, Barangay Pasong Tamo Capt. Banjo Pilar, Ms. Kristine Matias, Mr. Vito Sotto, and Dr. Ellie Juan.
One of the couples at the mass wedding, Marielle Tala and Richard Tala, said they were grateful for the city government’s initiative.
“Super blessed at masaya dahil pwede ko na magamit ‘yung apelyido niya dahil kasal na kami at higit sa lahat pagmamay-ari ko na siya at matatawag ko na talaga siya na tunay na asawa, (I’m blessed and happy that I can finally use his surname because we’re married, and most of all he’s already mine and I can call him my real husband),” Marielle said.
While Jade Ragundiaz, one of the grooms, expressed his gratitude to Co-Pilar’s team for assuring the mass wedding was safe for everyone, especially during the pandemic.
“Malaki ang pasasalamat naming kay Konsehala at lalo na sa kaniyang mga staff na kahit pagod na ay patuloy pa rin sa marangal na pagseserbisyo, (We are grateful for Councilor and her staff who are still working even though tired),” Ragundiaz said. (Cherrylin Caacbay)
