Isko praises Digong’s successful vaxx campaign

CEBU CITY — Manila Mayor Isko Moreno praised President Rodrigo Duterte for ensuring a successful vaccination campaign.

Moreno said the country’s vaccination drive is doing well which will greatly help the nation recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I would like to congratulate President Duterte in his efforts in the mass vaccination being done by the national government, supported and being implemented by local government units all over the country,” Moreno.

Moreno, who is running for president in next year’s elections, arrived in Cebu last Sunday, Dec. 5, for a three-day visit. His first stop was at Cebu Safari and Adventure Park in Carmen town, northern Cebu.

Moreno said at the rate the country’s vaccination drive is going, it would not be impossible to vaccinate 65 to 70 million in a short span of time and achieve herd immunity.

The economy should be fully opened in the next six months for the country to finally recover from the pandemic, he said.

“That’s what we have been looking for, to open the economy. There will be more jobs, and the people will have enough food to eat,” Moreno said.

As new infections continue to decline, Moreno said he is hoping for the country’s COVID-19 situation to further improve as he jested about the mutation of COVID-19.

“Sana mag tuloy tuloy na huwag na dumating is Megatron kasi si Omicron umiikot na (Hopefully, this will continue and Megatron will no longer come because Omicron is already going around),” Moreno said.
