Three members of K-pop superstars BTS arrived in South Korea early morning on Dec. 6 after wrapping up their concert in Los Angeles and appearances.
Jimin, Jin and Jungkook arrived at Incheon International Airport Terminal 2 and were met by fans at the arrival hall.
Based on new guidelines set by the Korean government due to the Omicron variant of COVID-19, Jimin, Jin and Jungkook needed to undergo polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test upon arrival and would undergo self-quarantine for 10 days.
From Dec. 3 until Dec. 16, all persons arriving in South Korea, whether Korean or foreigner, need to be tested at the airport and undergo 10-day isolation due to the Omicron variant.
South Korea recorded 5,128 new COVID-19 cases on Dec. 5 to bring the total confirmed cases to 473,034. The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) confirmed 12 Omicron variant cases in South Korea as of Dec. 5, according to Yonhap News.
BTS held their four-day sold-out US concert “Permission to Dance on Stage-LA” at SoFi Stadium on Nov. 17 and 28, and Dec. 1 and 2.
The concert was BTS’ first in-person concert of BTS in two years since holding the “2019 BTS World Tour Love Yourself: Speak Yourself The Final” in Seoul, South Korea in October 2019.
According to Billboard, based on Billboard Boxscore figures, BTS’ four-day LA concert sold 214,000 tickets, or an average of 53,500 tickets per day, and earned $33.3 million
“Those totals make the SoFi Stadium shows the highest-grossing engagement since venues began re-opening this year. Further, it’s the largest gross for run of shows at a single venue since 2012, when Roger Waters earned $38 million over nine shows at Estadio River Plate in Buenos Aires, Argentina,” according to Billboard.
Billboard added that BTS’ LA concert is “the biggest U.S.-based Boxscore in 18 years, and the second-biggest ever in the 30-year-plus history of Billboard Boxscore in North America (and biggest ever in California), behind Bruce Springsteen’s 10-show marathon at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. (38.7 million). Overall, BTS lands the sixth best-grossing engagement in Billboard Boxscore history.”
“A Boxscore is generally defined as a report of all shows that an act plays at a single venue during a given tour, or during a leg of a tour. Sums are based on figures reported to Billboard Boxscore and exclude festivals,” Billboard added.
BTS also performed at the iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball tour in Los Angeles on Dec. 3 where they performed “Butter” and “Dynamite.”
In South Korea, BTS will be unable to attend the 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMAs) slated on Dec. 11 due to mandatory self-isolation.
"It was decided that BTS will not appear in the MAMAs," Mnet said, reported Yonhap News.
BTS left Seoul for the US last Nov. 17. They performed at the 2021 American Music Awards (AMAs) last Nov. 21.
They won the AMAs’ Artist of the Year, the highest honor, Favorite Pop Duo or Group and Favorite Pop Song for “Butter.” They also appeared on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” last month.
