She looks simply divine

For the longest time, “pasabog” shoots are a thing used by Filipino beauty pageant contestants not only to create buzz online but also for them to present Filipino-made fashions. As representatives of the Philippines on the international stage, they put in all effort to present the country in the best possible ways they can and that includes dressing for the job. And while she is not competing for any international pageant, actress Marian Rivera followed suit on becoming a muse for Filipino fashion designers, posing in front of the camera as she announced her becoming one of the judges of the 70th Miss Universe competition.

In her latest editorial shoot, the Filipino actress worked with fashion photographer Mark Nicdao and wore the best dresses made by some of the country’s top-notch designers curated by stylist Pam Quiñones’ Qurator Studios. Quite honestly, looking at their works seems like having a masterclass about classic and timeless dressing.

Here’s what she wore:

As for her upcoming judging duties, Marian also sees the opportunity as a chance to represent the country. “Minsan lang siguro mabigyan ka ng pagkakataon na makabilang sa isang mahalagang okasyon sa mundo kung saan siyempre magsasama sama at bitbit mo yung bandila ng ating bansa. So para sa akin isang malaking karangalan siya kaya naman buong puso ko ‘tong tinanggap (It’s not often that you get an opportunity to be part of an important occasion around the world, where people come together, and of course, you’re carrying the flag of our country. So for me, it’s a great honor, which is why I accepted it wholeheartedly),” she said.

“Aaminin ko na hindi naman talaga English ang first language ko kung hindi Filipino at kinuha pa rin nila ako—siguro hindi lang dahil doon—kung hindi dahil sa aking body of work bilang isang Filipina (I admit, English isn’t my first language but Filipino and yet they still chose me, maybe not just because of the that, but also because of my body of work as a Filipina),” Marian added, pertaining to the online criticism of her being picked as a judge. “Basta kilala niyo naman ako, hindi naman ako mapagpanggap. Di ba? (You all know me, I am not pretentious. Right?)”

Miss Universe 2021 will be held in Eilat, Israel on Dec. 12, 2021 (Dec. 13 in the Philippines), where Philippines bet Beatrice Luigi Gomez hopes to bring home the country’s fifth crown.
