Two Koreans were arrested by police for alleged extortion and carnapping in Pasay City on Thursday night.

Col. Cesar Paday-os, Pasay City police chief, said the suspects, identified as Kim Jae Yong, 55, and Lee Giyeoung, 62, were nabbed in an entrapment operation in front of a condominium on Donada St., Pasay at about 9 p.m.

Paday-os said another suspect, Hyunju Kim, was able to elude arrest.

The suspects were arrested on complaints of Kim Yooshik, 54, also a Korean.

Yooshik appeared at the Anti-carnapping Section (ANCAR) of Pasay City Police and reported that his car, a 2019 Mitsubishi Expander GLS Wagon with plate number CAR-8176, was stolen by the Hyunju at a temporary parking lot in front of a condominium on Nov. 4.

The complainant told police that on Dec.2 the suspects demanded money for the release of his vehicle, prompting him to report the incident.

The arrested suspects were charged with extortion and violation of Republic Act 10883, known as the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, police said.
