YouTube has released its 2021 Top 10 lists, which are top trending videos, top music videos, top creators, breakout creators and top shorts creators in 2021 covering the period January 2021 to November 2021.
Surprisingly, the No. 1 top music video in South Korea in 2021 is trot singer Lim Young-woong’s “My Starry Love,” which was released on YouTube on March 9, 2021. The music video has garnered 43.46 million views as of Dec. 3.
According to YouTube, the top music videos list is “based on in-country views of official music videos uploaded in 2021” from Google data from. Jan. 1 to Nov. 1, 2021.
Placing second is K-pop superstars BTS’ “Butter,” which was released on May 21. It holds the record as the No. 1 most viewed music video in the first 24 hours of release with 108.2 million views. As of Dec. 3, “Butter” MV has 632.64 million views on YouTube.
IU’s “Celebrity” music video, released on Jan. 27, 2021, garnered third place. According to YouTube, “Celebrity” became No. 1 for six weeks on its Korean Music chart. As of Dec. 3, “Celebrity” has 116.3 million views on YouTube.
In fourth place is BTS’ “Permission to Dance” music video, which was released on July 9, 2021, and had 72.3 million views in the first 24 hours of release to place seventh in the top 10 ranking. As of Dec. 3, the music video has 386 million views.
IU’s “Lilac” music video, released on March 25, 2021 on YouTube, grabbed fifth place. The music video has 67.25 million views as of Dec. 3 on YouTube.
