Davao City to conduct anti-terror simex on Dec. 4

DAVAO CITY — The Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC), will conduct a Simulation Excercise (SIMEX) to strengthen the city's counter-terrorism strategy on Saturday, December 4 at the SM Lanang Premier.

According to PSSCC head Angel Sumagaysay the simex is "part of the city’s routine exercise to identify areas of improvement and test the readiness against terror threats."

He said "the security team will be responding to a mock improvised explosive device (IED) attack" during the simex to "gauge the interoperability of the members of the security cluster in addressing the threat."

The official said the exercise is timely as the Christmas holiday draws near.

The activity will be participated in by various security agencies and offices, including the Task Force Davao and the Davao City Police Office (DCPO).

“This is just a simulation exercise and hopefully they would understand if there are inconveniences sa traffic,” Sumagaysay added.
