CEBU CITY — Five persons were killed while at least 15 others were injured when a wayward dump truck plowed several vehicles along a busy road in Talisay City, southern Cebu on Friday morning, Dec. 3.
One of the fatalities was Benchin Udtohan, the driver of the dump truck.

The accident, which happened at 9:30 a.m. along N. Bacalso Avenue in Barangay Lawaan 3, involved two dump trucks, six four-wheeled vehicles, four motorcycles, one bicycle, and a tricycle
Police Master Sargeant Reynaldo Tican, traffic investigator of the Talisay police, said the dump truck driven by Udtohan first hit a multicab before ramming a public utility vehicle.
As the truck rear-ended the PUV, the impact caused a domino effect as more vehicles were hit.
The vehicles in front of the dump truck were dragged about 15 meters from the point of impact.
Tican said the dump truck was seen running at high speed as it was allegedly seen racing with another dump truck.
“We cannot still determine if the truck lost its brake but it was really reckless driving,” said Tican.
The fatalities included three men and a woman.
One of the vehicles, a L300 van, rammed into sidewalk and hit a passerby.
