2 crew rescued after fishing boat explosion


DAVAO CITY - Two men survived after their fishing boat's engine exploded in Mati City on Thursday, December 2.

In a statement from the City Information Office of Mati, the fishermen were identified as John Mark Mamintong, 25, and Ceasar
Alterado, 40, who are both from General Santos City.

The two were rescued by the Mati City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

According to the city government, the Mati CDRRMO received the report of the incident around 11:39 am Thursday.

"It was learned that the victims were loading supplies into their boat along the shore of Macambol when the accident occurred," it added.

Mamintong reportedly suffered a second degree burn and had difficulty in breathing, while Alterado sustained a first degree burn. The two were rushed to the Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center for treatment.
